Guildford Circular via Albury Park Walk

Circular walk around Guildford
Distance: 15.5 miles
Guide: Guide Info

My Distance: 12.95 Miles
Time - 6Hrs

The Route

So parked up in Guildford railway station - £5.00 for the day on a weekend, not to bad and headed off to Shalford

Walking along the River Wey (in a thunderstorm storm which soon passed)

River Wey

River Wey
and then across Shalford Water Meadows

Crossing the river a few times, pretty quiet as I started around 7, I guess it’s a busy area later in the day

Through Shalford, across the green and past the local pond

Finally arriving at Chillworth Gunpowder Mills setup in 1626, plenty of evidence of the past still around

MillStones

Old Workings

Now we are heading to Ford Farm which is an easy hike very quiet and pretty area

and finally a chance to check the route

So refreshments done its on to Silent Pool

Tillingbourne

Arrived at Silent Pool

Just a little green looking but apparently fed by underwater springs and very clear

Now we are off to Newlands Corner
The track to the top of the Downs seems to go on and on and on - everyone was coming down and I was the only one going up (now I know why they all smiled at me)

On and On and On

Once walking along the top of the downs there are two joined Beech Trees (inosculation) not something I have ever actually seen before

Finally at Newlands with great views across Tillingbourne Valley.

There is more to the walk but I called it a day at this point, a great walk with lots on route such as Gunpowder Mills, St Catherine’s Chapel (14th Century), St Martha on the Hill and so on - I may well go back for another look round.

Eynsford Circular Walk

Circular walk around Eynsford
Distance: 13.4 miles
Guide: Guide Info

My Distance: 14.98 Miles
Time - 7Hrs 9 Mins (to many nice pubs on this route)

Did this today - a nice walk with plenty of variety, free parking at the station so that was a bonus.

The guide to the walk was spot on (despite me making a wrong turn which you can see on my route map)

There is actually a lot to see including Chalkgrasland, Eynsford Castle and the Otford Solar Sytem Scale model.

You get a very distant view of Canary Wharf and excellent views across Darent Valley.

All in all a good walk bar the odd shower. A few pics below

Sevenoaks - Circular

Circular walk around Sevenoaks
Distance: 9.6 miles
Guide: Guide

My Distance: 10.58 Miles
Time - 4 Hrs 52 Mins

So I did this walk today, fairly straight forward - Parking in Sevenoaks Station was a bargain for the sum of £1.00

The route guide was spot on, through Knole Park (you can see the turrets in the distance)
Pleasant route, first village is Godden Green with an excellent pub called the Buck Heads (I did not stop)

The next place of significance is Ightham Mote, if you have the time do visit, then up past round Mote farm, and follow the Greensand Way to a rather interesting National Trust Sign "One Tree Hill" (picture further down) from here its back to Knoe Park and eventually the station.

Given the time of year no shortage of Bleubells and Wild Garlic, some amazing views across the Weald (visibility somewhat limited)

Is not a hard walk, plenty of pubs on route. Some pictures below
